There's first generation Mega Drive/Genesis games that look worse than this.

I remember playing this back in the day. Bung, a company that made gameboy flashcarts (imagine flashing them over parallel port!) and some other neat stuff used to hold gb/gbc demo contests. Some other entities did them too. It was a vibrant scene. THD2 really was so well thought out and just generally impressive for what it was at the time, it took me by surprise. It won Lik-Sang Coders Competition 2000. Thank you so much for remembering this game!

OK, I owned Rival Turf back in the 90s and knew about Rushing Beat being the game's name in Japan. Somehow I have missed the controversial Japan VS USA versions of these Jaleco beat-em-ups. I did not know Rushing Beat had story cutscenes, and definitely didn't know you could kick bad guys in the balls. LOL
